A nifty little C++ trick for the Visual Studio compiler: Instead of blah(args) you can use this syntax: __pragma(blah(args)) The difference is that the later is embeddable in preprocessor macros, leading to less littering of compiler-specific ifdefs in the code.

You use to debug any shader resource in Unity. First, define ` enable_d3d11_debug_symbols` in your shader. This will make RenderDoc display correct name for bound resources. Now load RenderDoc from the Unity editor and do a capture (1/2)

A simple but effective change for the code in 's first book: (1) Render into buffer and write buffer to file, (2) " omp parallel for num_threads(12)" on loop over rows of the output image. Gives me ~14x speed up on 6 cores/12 hyperthreads.

Got console warnings that you can't seem to get rid of? You can disable them! warning disable 0000 (replace 0000 with the warning number in your log, minus the CS)

This is really nice in - A straight message about when a feature is available, perhaps we just need instructions to support a sprawl of versions :)

TIL: changing the location of an error in C# is a breaking change. It can invalidate warning disable blocks.
