Think outside the box for signings! I talked to a children’s museum and they had an wildlife rescue bring in live animals, had animals crafts, and I did reading and signings (local bookstore was there to sell.) Shelly was a big fan.

Something that's exciting to me is the thought that some of you out there will be my fellow debut's & we might be in a debut group together. It's that mystery of 'who'. I'm exciting for that moment when we ban together. Right now, I just need to get to writing though : P

I had two different PBs enthusiastically requested after conference critiques in Jan. Hearing the word ‘love’ multiple times about a ms you’ve worked so hard on is magical! Both had feedback that made them even stronger. I happy danced when the pieces fell into place.

I've been writing non-stop since 9am. It's now 1:15am. I've accomplished something I haven't done in 6+ months - write a pb [1st] draft. This WILL be the year I polish old manuscripts, produce new ones, query, land my agent, AND get a deal. I'm claiming it : )

I work full time, had a kid in sports, and The Hubby is a terrible cook. I MADE time. I'd cook dinner and then say, "I'm putting my headphones on. Don't bug me for 30 minutes." I squeezed in time. I wrote a 50K+ word MG novel almost solely on my lunch breaks.

The Blueboard now has a section for debut groups where you can look for a group or to add members, discuss tips, ask questions, etc. I hope all the debut groups will hop on and join the chat there. :)

I'm looking to hire an illustrator to create a fun avatar illustration of me, picture book style, for my kidlit website and possibly social media. Anyone know of illustrators who do this? Bonus pts. if they are latinx. Links to portfolios appreciated!

1. Surprise- getting the offer to turn my book into a musical 2. Struggle- social media, I still don’t feel I have success tweeting and posting. 3. Success- sticking to my mantra of enjoying f the little moments. They truly are the ones that are the most special.

the only way to survive the reality of rejection is to laugh in the face of failure if we take ourselves too seriously any rejection becomes a referendum on our soul in which we come up abysmally short but we are not our work so we are free to laugh

I started publicity efforts right after signing. I searched for and found my debut group. I felt that this would give me the support and knowledge I would need for my debut.
