I’m about to risk answering this with a thread...feeling a little anxious...but going there... women come in with ticks and crosses and ideas. This is for everyone!

Hi, . Dumb question. Do small modular reactors fall under the venn-diagram of Gen-IV? If not does “Advanced Reactors” include SMRs? Asking for a friend . . .

“OK, people don’t like nuclear, let’s model without it.” “But their finding implies that a binary, all or nothing thinking is the wrong approach.” Very interesting research. When blind ppl pick Nuclear

This is the second time TODAY that pro-nuclear energy advocates are (rightfully) being called out for how we act in response to other scientists and the interested public. This is on us, . We need to do better, we need to be better

has a reputation of being a tough crowd. I’d like to introduce myself—I’m a retired lawyer who grew up on Heinlein and Asimov. I’m convinced we already have the TECHNOLOGY to reduce global CO2 emissions to net-zero by 2029, but lack a politically viable plan.

✊⚛️⚛️✊ There's a bill that helps jumpstart the development of advanced nuclear reactors, and the Sen Committee on Energy and Natural Resources is hearing testimony on it-- TODAY. Ask your Sen to support here:

I know the kerfuffle over the best ways to change minds has blown up (yet) again. I want to say that you are awesome. You do something I haven't seen outside a regulated environment: you police your own. From ineffective persuasion tactics to abusive behaviour.

Seriously . Seriously. Please get out of your fact free zone. (This, in reply to a thread, with actual data, on actual substantial CO2 declines from wind and solar growth in the US) I give up...

Listen to Suzy, seriously. has a lot of technical expertise on energy and a lot of enthusiasm, but most of us are not experts in organizing and public outreach. She is. And we should all appreciate when people who know their shit share that experience with us. :)

I might have a chance to ask a question at the CNN town hall tomorrow. I need help thinking of famous nerds who support nuclear power. The three that come to mind are Bill Gates, James Hansen and Jeffrey Sachs.

My math also gets to 1.1c/kwh over 60years. Over 20 years it's 3.3c capital cost. Add a bit for running costs etc and you're at maybe 5c/kwh for first 20y, then virtually free? (nice for our kids?). Have I missed something ? (1.6*24*365*60*.92)

Thanks, Jarret! Also, dear readers, compliment this thread with a new study released yesterday that looks at how public perception can reduce nuclear deployment potential, and how to mitigate those risks:

Anyone on wondering what happened to FluorIdaho RPT-1662: Technical Analysis of Drum Lid Ejections-ARP V? It was mentioned by DNFSB in Dec. but wasn't online? This was the 4/2018 drum explosion incident: DU. Here's a copy via FOIA:

All this stuff is crazy. Folks, stop trying to fight with and convince each other. People hated coal and we built it. People hated nuclear and we built it. We don’t need a massive public uprising. We need a product available for sale at competitive rates.
