Thank you to & Marwa herself for a beautiful tale of what coming to Scotland has meant to her after being forced to flee from Syria as an 11 year old & having lost a brother in the civil war. I wish her ever happiness here in her new home: Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

“Nevertheless, the 510 hours of language teaching that the AMEP offers eligible migrants and refugees are nowhere near enough for many adult migrants to learn enough English to get a job or enrol in further education.“

Worth pointing out as well about so many of us came here on holiday and stayed, that Scotland should totally use that to get the immigrants we need. Start heavy advertising Scottish holidays in nursing magazines, on teaching websites etc.

We asked 2000 people in Scotland incl. 700 men and women seeking asylum and refugees what would make life better for them and their community? One of the biggest responses was outwith Scotland’s control: letting asylum seekers work

We strongly support the notion Scotland has 3 native languages; Scots, English & Gaelic. All equal. Plus hundreds more from our like Polish, French, Hindi. All welcome. We’re all Scotland’s children. In whatever tongue.

We’ve been carrying out action research: a Community Development approach to refugee resettlement. By informing the implementation of the integration plan we’re hoping to foster more independent refugee led action & widen the focus to include established communities.
