SCORCHED EARTH POLICY: The new normal in NSW 🇦🇺. A fire charred landscape and a fully laden coal train heading to the port of Newcastle. Science tells us both are linked. Image taken at the Whittingham grass fire, Tues 12 Nov. 2019

I am puzzled by claims that the scientific link between and risk is being framed as a left vs right issue. It is a no-brainer vs no-brain issue

THE FACTS: NATIONAL PARKS RANGERS The PSA is not fibbing. In 2011 there were 289 Rangers. Today, there are 193 Rangers. There were previously 36 Fire Management Officers. Today there are 10.

I have to post this on Twitter as there’s been no cuts to the NSW firefighting budgets at all, and people need to stop spreading this lie as all it does is to undermine our courageous firefighters. .

Do not panic, the surplus will save us - and failing that, we can always reach into our emergency supply of thoughts and prayers.

MANY thanks to all who contacted NSW MPs about weakening the NSW enviro planning laws (stage 3 emissions). Great news, bill won't be rushed through, referred to an upper house committee for 2020, Lets keep making climate a political priority.

Official Parliamentary figures show this government inherited 1,349 NPWS firefighters in 2011, and eight years later, there are only 1044 left. Liberal and National MPs are lying because they don't want to be held to account for their own decisions.

99.4% of NSW is in drought. The state is tinder-dry. The climate catastrophe is accelerating. Yet Gladys Berejiklian thought it was a good idea to cut the RFS budget by 75% this year?! This is a failure of leadership. The govt must be held accountable.

So it’s who wouldn’t meet with emergency services warning of a fire catastrophe *back in September*, and it’s Mr “strip search my kids” who cut fire prevention funding in . A big thank you to the Liberal Party for their best & brightest.

Whenever there is a gun massacre in the USA, politicians asked about gun control laws say “Not today. Not today.” If not now, then when?

Evidence has surfaced the government inherited almost a 3rd more trained staff than it claimed, suggesting the number of trained firefighting staff in the national parks service has fallen, not risen, since government won office in 2011.

My question to the Emergency Services Minister today. His response? “I’ll treat that question with the contempt it deserves.”
