In what has been a very traumatic, exhausting and anxious bush fire season so far, for the first time this season all bush and grass fires in NSW are now contained. It has taken a lot of work by firefighters, emergency services and communities to get to this point.

This is the most positive news we've had in some time. The recent rainfall has assisted firefighters to put over 30 fires out since Friday. Some of these blazes have been burning for weeks and even months.

Fire Season: A Photo Essay -- A few days ago, the announcement was made: All fires in NSW have been declared contained. I didn't realise how much of an effect this would have on me until this happened. I cried. Oh yes. For good reason.

The good news just keeps rolling in! The Lindfield Park Road Fire, which has been burning in the Port Macquarie region for 210 days, has today been declared out. The fire burnt through 858 hectares and 400 of that being peat soils under the surface.

Rain has significantly assisted reducing the fire activity across areas of NSW. It is a welcome relief for communities and firefighters alike. 26 bush and grass fires are still burning across the state with 4 not yet contained (Snowy Valley and Monaro areas).

Although we have seen substantial rain in some areas, firefighters continue to work on 24 bush and grass fires. 2 fires remain uncontained, located in the Snowy Valley and Monaro areas. The main focus now for crews is to locate and extinguish any remaining hotspots.

Thanks to colleagues from and for your time at . It was good to see some regeneration happening in the area. and I saw extended drought-affected areas around Hoskinstown, just before the fire perimeter.

Some of our firies got a once in a lifetime chance to be on stage with and as they performed the final song to close out the Fire Fight Australia concert. These volunteers represented everyone involved in protecting communities this season

All volunteers deserve due process against a code of conduct or contract. If Aussies really appreciate volunteerism they must demand transparency from . I dont care what his politics are, we cannot protect our communities without protecting those in it
