A5. Most of my Ss don’t have computers/internet at home so they do what I’m doing now: typing w my thumbs. They struggle w typing fluency bc of this! They also struggle to see the connection of social media beyond 👍🏻s. The internet is vast. Their words/pics reach far.

A1: Literacy means literacies is what interests me the most. It does because technology involves a lot of different OS’s, hardware, and programs. Students and teachers will need to know how to use each one effectively.

A2 I feel as if a lot of these literacies come naturally these days. Most people use websites like wikipedia for learning trivia about their favorite media, not for educational purposes. Students will likely know a lot of these before class even begins

A5: Technology is not neutral, nor is it equal. When concerns emerge, I often consider three As: access, affinity, and approach. Who and how do they have access? What spaces of affinity intersect or mediate? What is my (pedagogical) approach?

A tech tool that works really great is Google Docs. Students in a class can be a part of the doc and not use the excuse that "they lost their notes" since the documents automatically save. Teachers can make docs with discussion questions and have students answer them.
