here’s a picture of today during Jumah services. it was full of love, anger, grief, light, healing, & prayer, & i am so blessed to be part of this beautiful, resilient Ummah. white supremacy ain’t shit. we are out here, and we will continue to shine. that is all.

is where my heart is It’s where I grew up It’s where I’ve met some of those most beloved to me It’s where I can go in times of hopelessness and feel at peace Rgardless of how hard some will try to place fear in our hearts they remain a place of solace and healing.

Muslims are tweeting pictures of their mosques under as a response to today’s terrorist attack. Not Muslim, but here’s my favorites: open house in Charleston, staying in a guest room at the Diyanet Center, and the Badshahi Mosque and Grand Jamia Masjid in Lahore.

You're welcome to my local mosque for a nice cup of green tea. We don't hate you. I hope we will never confuse terrorism with religion again. Islam means Peace, Together we can conquer hatred. Love & Peace

Couldn’t make it to today but found a masjid in Detroit and attended a beautiful khutbah with a congregation that prayed for all those attacked. May Allah grant them the highest of heavens, Ameen πŸ™

Muslims are sharing pictures of their mosques with the hashtag in response to the despicable act of white supremacist terrorism in Christchurch. I'm not Muslim, but I've been lucky to be welcomed in some of the most amazing mosques by some of the most fantastic people.

This wasn't planned, but I'll be at 2 mosques today for both Jumaa and a celebration of my friend giving birth to a beautiful baby girl. I'll be posting pictures from there because these *our* collective communal spaces. I encourage you to do the same.

... the East London Mosque.. the Mosque where I grew up. Prayed most of my prayers. Almost all my Ramadans.. a place more dear to me than my own home... and no white supremacist will stop me from praying here... ever.

I’m not Muslim but I walk past this mosque almost every day. They are my brothers and sisters. My heart breaks for those killed in New Zealand by the white terrorist I was at the vigil in Toronto for a while. Another one March 21 Canada wide.
