I am a doctor. I have been depressed. I attempted suicide many years ago. I was fortunate to wake up in Intensive Care. This week I have listened to med students in NZ, fearful of talking as they risk being kicked out of med school.

Talking about suffering from any mental illness is the first step, and also the most difficult. Let’s change that. My name is Ryan and I take 14.5 pills a day for ADHD, Anxiety and OCD, and I am still a strong and worthy person.

Anxiety is a full-time job. There is no holiday, no fixed working hours, and certainly no quitting. You also don't get paid.

People nowadays will offer condolences in Death Faster than they’ll offer compassion in life....They’ll ruin your peace while you’re here but pray you Rest In Peace when you leave 🙄

Being racist is NOT a mental illness. Depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia are mental illnesses that need to be recognized as treatable illnesses. Stop saying racism is an illness. It is a choice. A conscious choice.

To the doctor at El Camino hospital who could somehow hold credentials in science and still disregard an anxiety attack from a patient let me remind you, MENTAL HEALTH IS PHYSICAL HEALTH! Support mental health, and hospitals do better please thanks!

Throwback to raising awareness for mental health awareness week. The Poole CAMHS team went into the community to raise awareness - the response was amazing. Here I am proudly displaying my board and our flowers! 😍

Although I couldn’t get my “Twit”together in time for 😉, I still want to share this terrific synopsis of Skin-Picking Disorder. It’s so often misunderstood. The more awareness we can raise, the more compassionate we can be...and p.s. It’s treatable!

Strength grows in those moments where you think about giving up. Where you think this is it and begin to throw in the towel. In those few moments where you think you can not go on, but you keep trying and you keep going anyway.

When you believe that there’s something you must have to be happy you set yourself up for disappointment. True happiness is not found in getting what you want but in learning to appreciating what you have.

Mental health issues beyond depression & anxiety are JUST as real and JUST as valid. People with BPD aren’t crazy and manipulative, those with bipolar not just having mood swings, those with schizophrenia are not all dangerous or violent.
