Day 14: I would feel most at home in Melilli, Sicily, the village my father grew up in. I love this picture I took of him wandering those streets.

I grew up in , , & during the feast of St. Sebastian, I'd see the Nuri dressed in white with red sashes run from the cemetery to the church some 3 miles away. This tradition dates back 100s of years to , , where my father was born. ⬇️

My friend, took an advance copy of my novel, , to , , to meet my ziu Angelo. She told me that he wouldn't part with it. He took it with him everywhere, crying with joy and holding it with so much pride.

In the stories he told me as a child, a statue of St. Sebastian washed ashore in a shipwreck & the people of were the only ones who could carry it home. In the photo below, Nuri from Sortino begin their 7 mile walk to Melilli to take part in this weekend's feast.
