I took this picture of MARS on Oct 5th with my telescope. On Oct 6th it was even CLOSER to Earth, and won't be this close again until 2035!

Last nights Mars, with Syrtis Major and Hellas Basin front and centre. Seeing wasn't great and transparency was terrible with a visible halo around the planet due to high clouds/fog.

Mars will now be closer to Earth for the next 15 years. So, simply go out and watch the sky at midnight and you'll be able to see the red planet. Mars will be closest to Earth, starting from October 6 until 2035.
