This is my 3,500th tweet - joining Twitter to approach the cultural hegemony head-on early November, 2018. I've been blocked spontaneously by scores of LIGO employees only in the last two weeks, just in time for the 2nd anniversary of the July/August, 2017 trigger cluster.

Recently detected pulse of gravitational waves - may have been set off by collision of massive black hole and neutron star

Laser light can be used to sense the mechanical motion of a mirror: such system is called "optomechanical". It can be used to measure very weak forces: detects using this principle. Often such systems use optical resonators to increase the signal. 2/6

#13 but couldn’t afford to live on the west side but can afford a cabin in the woods livening on the east side. Lots of advanced degrees due to in our area. Love it here

It always feels like there are so many giant telescopes out there, but then a NSBH event happens and one needs to cover 20 square deg to 23rd mag when the moon’s out, and you realize how few telescopes can do that ...

Shamelessly promoting my own research, but it does show mesmerising buckling of glassy metal contoured Euler springs

Scientists detected gravity waves that just reached Earth after traveling through space for 900 million years. A black hole that swallowed a neutron star, the remains of very large stars that exploded, caused these gravity waves.

Nobody is talking about it because it is transparently biased and the enterprise is directly masking the actual crisis that their experimental protocols have induced.

10 of a total of 83 signals considered above; these 10 share <30-day mutual interval on respective years. Multiple correlations in parameters w/deterministic foreground noise windows would lead to the view that perturb the magnetosphere, but -Virgo afraid.

Debugging took on a whole new meaning this week. Had to go out to Hanford to extract two insects that were inside the optical readout of one of our rotation sensors. These two stowaways were causing glitches in the sensor that then made the observatory lose lock!

No neutrinos, and over 1000 galaxies to choose from! Retracted nearly identical lum. dist. as putative NS-BH and was even considered to be another NS-BH trigger. Notice confidence in a mass-gap assessment was 100% for S190814bv, then 100% NS-BH.

Just making it known that has detached its controls from reality and is absolutely Bayesian to the point of absurdity; taking advantage of ignorance and promoting indifference to controls hopefully doesn't extend to other astronomy/physics collabs.
