A1 Every single teacher that I ADORED had one thing in common. They took time each day to READ aloud. No matter how busy, tired or crazy the day may have been- they read aloud with excitement building a positive climate and love of reading in me. β€οΈπŸ“šπŸ₯°

A2 I greet students at drop off in the morning, walk the entire school before announcements, and organized the lunch line, all with my jammypack playing tunes. Build relationships 30 seconds at a time, right ?

A2 - As a teacher I would give ALL my students nicknames that were unique to them - they LOVED it! Some are out of college now and that nickname has still stuck, it makes an impact for sure!

A1: The negative self talk in my head needs to simmer the heck down. The area I need to improve in the most is to give myself the grace and the patience I deserve. I constantly need to remind myself that I am enough and I do enough. Period.

Say it with me, y’all... β€œSchools don’t exist so adults can have jobs. Schools exist for KIDS!” Let’s be sure we are consistently keeping ourselves grounded in our purpose and our why. It’s not about us. It’s about KIDS!

A3: One "little" thing we do at our school to make colleagues feel valued, is submitting "shout outs" via a Google Form in our weekly staff bulletin. Anyone can submit a "shout out" to anyone else & it gets published in the bulletin the following week.

A1 - I can remember in 1st grade (Mrs. Hayes was my teacher) my teacher sent me to the Principal’s Office because I finished my math workbook. Mr. McLaughlin congratulated me and signed my workbook - I felt so proud and have never forgot that little thing!

A4 - My three wishes for education! 1. No student loans for public school teachers - ever. 2. More play and less testing for all kids K-12 - starting now. 3. More autonomy for teachers to make decisions that directly impact them -
