1940 Politburo of the Soviet Communist Party, following the motion of Lavrentiy Beria, made a secret decission on executing the Polish POW's captured on Polish teritory occupied by the Soviet Union. In effect more than 20K of Polish POW's have been killed by NKVD.

On Memorial Day Poland remembers 22,000 🇵🇱 officers & intellectuals murdered by the Soviet NKVD in March-April 1940. Up to 5% of them were Polish Jews, among them Rabbi Baruch Steinberg, Chief Rabbi of the Polish Army.

On April 13th we commemorate the 22,000 victims of the Katyń Massacre. Polish prisoners of war were methodically executed by Soviet forces in an attempt to cripple the Polish state of it's officer class and intelligentsia.
