Thanks for sharing this article, certainly is interesting. Elasticity definitely something Runners require but runners also need the ability to get into optimal positions for maximal elastic loading & recoil - this adds another dimension to the answer re stretching

Common response: Some things are objectively good, like short functions! I don't know about y'all, but I often prefer a big honking function that has all the logic in the same place, rather than 20 tiny one liners that only make sense when meticulously glued together.
