Safe and sound ♥️ The storm was loud and rattled the windows but there was no damage and we didn’t even lose power or water. I am very thankful!!

Weak Tropical Storm will be a non-issue for several days. There's no guarantee that Isaac's core will survive these next few days in a hostile environment. Some models, however, suggest regeneration in the western Caribbean and possible emergence into the Gulf of Mexico.

Let me save everyone the trouble: 30 knots of westerly shear for another day over the ruins of disheveled will not allow it to survive. It dies soon, and a 5-day cone isn't needed. Regardless, the remnant tropical wave will be a vigorous one for the Lesser Antilles.

(1/) Getting more questions about the future of . Via the Euro ensembles from last night, a track anywhere from the western Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico to Central America is possible. Intensity will be biggest influence on track & LOTS of uncertainty on future intensity.

Holy cow! A **fourth** just formed in the Atlantic, and there’s a 70% chance that a FIFTH cyclone will form in the Gulf of Mexico over the next 48 hours.😳

In all fairness tho, none of the globals were anywhere close to picking up on Kirk's short-term intensity. I'd agree the environment thermodynamically looks better for than , but the Caribbean trades look less favorable w/ a strong anticyclone in the SW Atlantic.

Yep. Now I think this storm is going to be a fascinating forecast challenge. Most of the global models don't really have any further development w/ & it seems like the low-level could accelerate to the point the mid-level shear become too strong like 2 weeks ago.

Don't call it a comeback; I've been here for years: , once left for dead has been resuscitated as a tropical storm. Where Isaac goes, no one really knows. At this point, no reliable model is showing anything too ominous. But the babysitter's club will keep monitoring it.

Know a lot of folks are watching as well in the tropics. Well, it's looking almost like Naked Swirl Isaac this morning. This one is struggling mightily. Not bad news.

0Z EURO ensemble (image) & today’s 12Z GFS tells me we need to watch as it could be mischievous down the road. Can’t dismiss it until all the convection is gone. Big sigh here at the Hurricane Tracker desk.
