To all those people who say there is no free-speech crisis on campus, look at this: feminist professor Selina Todd erased from today’s Women’s Liberation conference at Ruskin College for the thoughtcrime of believing in sex and biology. Disgraceful censorship.

The state of this. No platforming a leading feminist historian from a celebration of a major anniversary in British second-wave feminism.

Oh lookie, the head of UCU, congratulating a woman for destroying a feminist conference, and no platforming *one of the women that she is supposed to represent* while they all play footsie with Shon 'enjoy your erasure' Faye. Srsly.

It seems the same people who no-platformed also approached some of our speakers at the Ruskin WLM event the previous week putting them under pressure to stand down. This is not what the remarkable women of 1970 were hoping for

This week I spoke at an event about threats to freedom of speech; it focussed on the police’s listing of progressive organisations on a sheet labelled “counter terrorism policing”. But that isn’t the only threat to free speech

Shocking that you were excluded from this event - as Ruskin College we would never have silenced your voice. You have an open invitation to speak here on any aspect of feminism

Another organisation gives in, sacrifices a woman to the bullies, hopes she'll go quietly. This is cowardly and craven. We are not going quietly

Sad day when women aren't allowed to even debate the significance of biology and semantics in connection with their rights and safety. It's no different from 16th Century Puritans crying "witch" whenever someone questioned their ideology.

The way I see it after 16 years of enduring this bullshit misogyny, is is that most 'decent liberals' sleepwalked into this nightmare & now daren't speak out. If you object to being treated this way, SPEAK OUT NOW! Stop being cowards & capitulators.

By : "I was stunned to receive a call at 6pm the evening before the conference telling me that I had been no-platformed. The organisers say this is because of pressure from trans activists & Feminist Fightback." Disgraceful!

Also, if you are organising an event with people you think might be controversial *tell other speakers in advance* and if they have a problem, they can choose to not come. You have an obligation to stop cancel culture destroying public discourse.

Freedom of speech in education is important for safeguarding. People have to be allowed to express their concerns and views. This decision to no platform today is appalling.
