It really distresses me when well-meaning people refuse to have their children vaccinated. Vaccination works not only individually, but socially, creating . Refusing vaccination might feel right-on, but in reality it's antisocial:

At our antenatal class today the teacher made a point of explaining how jabs are a personal choice. She noted she didn’t get her kids immunised and they were fine... I was gutted. I personally think this incredibly poor form from any antenatal instructor.

This child has X-linked agammaglobulinemia. He can’t mount an appropriate immune response to infection, as he cannot produce antibodies. He needs you to donate blood. He is also an example of why is essential.

Got my flu shot this morning, and you should get yours. Don’t just do it for the likelihood of saving yourself some nasty bug, do it for the and the most vulnerable among us who can’t get one.

I believe in making some but not all vaccines mandatory with the proviso that parents are given the option of vaccinating later rather than sooner & that vaccines are manufactured under a highly regulated national health program for safety.
