What is Kindergarten? It’s the FOUNDATION of all future schooling. It’s the EQUALIZER for children who come to school with a wide variety of needs and experiences. It’s the OPPORTUNITY to play and explore in a purposeful way so that you’ll always be a learner.

Why? Because I CANNOT run a guided reading group, help a child solve a conflict, clean up a paint spill, remind a child to use the washroom, listen to a child use English for the first time, and get 3 children dry socks at the same time ALL BY MYSELF.

Full Day Kindergarten is essential for self-regulation, learning empathy and compassion and maximizing learning for our 4 and 5 year olds! My own child had 1 year of 1/2 day and 1 year of Full day and it made a huge difference in his ability to relate to his peers.

Experts have called Ontario's current model with one teacher and an ECE "visionary" for the quality education it provides, but a new opinion poll from the government ignores that evidence.

I began my teaching career as a full day K teacher. I have often reflected on the strong foundation my learning in those years instilled in me as an educator. While the little ones in this photo are almost adults now!, their families still check in from time to time.

Hey and my wife is an amazing teacher and getting a headstart has changed the lives of her students and their families as well. "Experts" who suggest changes to it or class sizes aren't experts in anything but consulting fees.
