It’s ridiculous that concerned Scots wanting to know what was happening last night had to wait for news channels in London to notice & start reporting because Scotland has no dedicated, 24/7 news channel.

My heart is broken and I have cried for this inspirational, iconic building both last night and this morning. Yes, it means this much to us. This will hurt Glasgow's soul, but the creative heart of Glasgow will continue to beat strong. A phoenix will rise.

A breathtakingly foolish thing to say. Sky News’ Editor-at-Large wondering aloud if someone from the committed arson in order to claim insurance on the building as it neared the conclusion of its wondrous restoration. Where even to begin?

It's important to know that not everyone who loved studied there. It was a hub for Glaswegians, young and old. A wee thread...

How, HOW, could such an irreplaceably precious building have been consumed by flames twice in a few years?

The rain The rain fell half a day too late, the difference between falling on fire and falling on ash. Twelve hours earlier we would have blessed this rain. Now it may as well never fall again.

We’re devastated and heartbroken for everyone at ; staff, students and residents of Garnethill. Teams of highly skilled craftsman from Scotland and around the world were so close to completing a magnificent restoration project.

I just can't believe this is happening again to the most stunning building in a fantastic city. I hope everyone is okay. We often describe buildings as 'iconic' but this one truly is

THREAD on . I visited the site with last night, who have done an incredible job to contain a fire that was totally out of control on their arrival and also collapsed the timber clad roof of the neighbouring ABC venue, which dates back to 1875.

My thoughts are with staff & students. Universities are communities: they're sites of learning & research, and also of friendships, collaborations, relationships, of working out who you are & who you want to be. I hope you find strength in that community.
