Was chuffed to spot a Sparassis (Cauliflower ) off the beaten track today in the Hurtwood . Apparently it tastes good, like buttery noodles but I haven't tried it!

It's cage, basket or lattice fungus (Clathrus ruber). The smelly greenish black mucilage on the inside bears the spores. The fungus emerges from a white egg. Northern Tuscany
