Saturday morning in Manhattan. I'm standing on a traffic island drawing a noodle shop in a tall brick building. There's a guy pulling a flower cart. Old women in red coats and old men in tan ball caps. It's cold in the shade and warm in the sun.

It was cold on the Lower East Side this morning but the city was already buzzing. I might have met a dozen people on the Bowery. A woman passed by me twice. "I promise I'm not following you. I'm lost. I'm looking for a Phone Spot. And my phone is dying."

This afternoon I stood against a roll-up door and drew the corner of Madison Street and Mechanics Alley. A crowd of people gathered under the Manhattan Bridge and boarded a white bus. A woman unloaded a van full of boxes into the storefront next door.

On Friday I took the elevator up to the 40th floor of the Equitable Building. I stood on the terrace and drew the view looking up Broadway. The street was full of taxis and buses and people walking across crosswalks.

This Wednesday night, Sad American Night is back in the saddle. We take the stage at with a never-before-seen acoustic set. We’ll be playing with some great bands at a wonderful venue and we’d love to see you there.
