These two nippers were caught during a survey of a River Chelmer tributary. This site represents the last stronghold for native White-clawed Crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes) in Essex. Those that evade Otter, Eel & Heron can grow over 10cm long (not including claws!)

( ) are . Allergy to one usually means an allergy to all decapods (eg crab, lobster) due to cross-reactive tropomyosin. False positives are common in all food allergy testing. The only definitive test is a food challenge.🦞 😋 🦀
