This week is my 1 year cancerversarry. I’ve come a long way from O2 masks and Plerux catheters. Grateful to all the teams at Dana Farber, MGH, and Brigham Women’s that helped me thru a terrifying first year. Heres to many many more healthy years!

To turn on T cells, they need to be able to import stuff from outside the cell like glucose and a few amino acids — now another amino acid joins the list, alanine. I am really interested to see how much tumor immunosuppression is just from decreased metabolites!

During class in Dr. Cho informed me that some cancer-fighting drugs may work for some people, but not others. A high number of genetic mutations in a tumor show it to be more susceptible to immunotherapy.
