So true. I'm so lucky we got to explore Monterey coast before HWY 1 slid out. After this amazing chat, I'm seriously contemplating a trip from SF to the Oregon coast this winter. We'll see how rainy it gets.

A10: My family took a trip up to this year in August. We took a swim in five alpine lakes in one day! Lake Helen was slush, & Emerald Lake had snow to the shoreline...my brother & I still made the plunge! It was 1 amazing day!
