“Trans youth are such a vulnerable group and there are many misconceptions around them,” says Fisher. “That’s why Butterfly is massively important: it is authentic representation that humanises us as opposed to demonising us.”

An important reminder that there is a body of research showing high levels of suicide amongst trans youth and trans people, directly related to stigma, exclusion, bullying and discrimination.

Just finished watching . Was a difficult watch as it took me back to certain points in my life & was a stark reminder that public restrooms in my town will always be a challenge for nonbinary people like me, but it’s clear they’re doing us justice.

My Son is 14 and changed his name (to Noah) and pronouns just over 3 years ago! Each year we mark the day with a 'Noahversary' and have presents and cake like a 2nd birthday! He's so happy being himself and attends the fab to meet others like him!

Imagine telling your pre-pubescent child that puberty is a ticking clock and you could stop it? That girls didn’t have to experience periods? Most of them would be necking the Lupron.

We are a strong, cohesive & supportive unit, but the gender dysphoria that Maxine portrays is very real. Please be a trans ally & help to foster an appetite to be kind to trans children, teens, adults & their families. Theirs (ours) is not a choice.

Highly recommend taking a look at this thread and at for story after heartwarming story of trans kids living happier and more fulfilling lives. A powerful antidote to the transphobic nonsense elsewhere on twitter.

Puberty is natural and healthy. Don’t pathologise it and increase children’s anxieties.
