Geoffrey Boycott held a woman down and punched her repeatedly in the face - he just got a knighthood. Do you need any more evidence that this Government isn't taking violence seriously

Time to stop these knighthoods being given to crusty old men for something they did decades ago. Geoffrey boycott was convicted of beating up his girlfriend! Have we completely lost our moral compass in the UK?

Geoffrey Boycott threatened my staff in a shoe shop I managed. Him knighthood is a disgrace! This sets a dangerous example to others.

Have to totally support this one - nothing makes violence to women ok and to give the person responsible a knighthood ?

I’ve just seen the images of Geoffrey Boycott’s victim’s face, & it’s absolutely shocking. This disgusting coward who will brutally beat a woman until her face is black & blue, & show no remorse, is a fucking monster. Tories & their cronies are out of control.

I spent today with lots of wonderful women who deserve to knighted for the bravery of leaving abusive partners and the “long innings” of the struggle that continues after leaving.

Great article highlighting not only how violence against women can be considered irrelevant or even 'an entry ticket to certain circles excited by thuggish boorishness in men' but also the flip side of 'the women who are pushed out to accommodate such men.'

The great Brian Clough once called over Geoffrey Boycott to sign an autograph for me. I ripped it up when I heard about him beating up his girlfriend For him to receive a knighthood is disgraceful.

Conservatives: - introduce which impacts most severely on women. - grab a woman by the neck for 'disrupting' dinner. - throws sexist insults around like confetti... Are we surprised they honour a convicted DV perpetrator with a peerage?

No knighthood for vile woman beaters.

It doesn’t matter how long ago. It doesn’t matter what else the perpetrators have achieved. Ending violence against women and girls has to be No.1 priority for all parties. WE will make sure that we hold Government to account

FINALLY just joined and not a little because of this. With two daughters to send red riding into the deep dark forest of adulthood, what kind of example is this? My, what big teeth you have Sir Knight 🐺

Why are we surprised at receiving a knighthood when we routinely reward men who cross the line when dealing with women- be it their partners or making derogatory comments about Muslim women?

Hold the phone, Geoffrey Boycott is getting a knighthood? It’s bad enough he still has a career. He. Was. Convicted.

? Boycott the whole damn honours system more like! It's the 21st Century FFS! — What the hell are we doing referring to human beings as "Lord", "Lady", "Sir", "Madam", "Knight", "Baron", "Baroness"!!

For all those defending Boycott as an innocent, read the facts: He was found guilty. Twice. Despite going to great lengths (and personal expense) to turn the case into a circus. He committed a crime and is utterly unrepentant.
