roads are 5,500 km long and can support 1.2 mil vehicles in total. In 2017 nearly 1mil new vehicles were registered in BKK. To support all existing vehicles, BKK needs 5 times more roads. (Or more sensibly reduce the number of vehicles allowed inside the city.)

The waterways of Bangkok sound like a mysterious world when in fact the khlongs are stinky and filthy, the piers are rickety structures and the boats never seems to come.

True, most taxi drivers in are grumpy and their cars smell of sausage left in plastic bags, but every now and then, you win the lottery and get a real character. Been driving 29 years. Been through 3 engines. Black & red devil decor.

Commuting to and from is going to get a little bit easier over the next few years. There are presently five rail lines under construction. The first to open are the extensions of the Green Line (North/South) in Nov/Dec 2018. Then the Blue Line (West) in Aug/Sep 2019.

This is . It never sleeps, cars never disappear and you find cheap food from every corner. The city is amazing and beautiful at it's best, chaotic and ugly at it worst. Any destination looks exactly like the way you look at it.
