They can also provide safe rides for the likes of garment workers, working in night shifts, and at affordable rates (perhaps subsidised by employers). But, all of these are being held to ransom by motley, but vocal, groups for whom monopoly is an end in itself.

- Is it a norm for competing buses on same route, not to stop for lone passengers waiting at bus stops?? Not much business I guess. But BMTC is a public service. Public servants acting as Lords of the Street.

Bus lane helps them pvt vehicles too... they are now lane disciplined...traffic moves fast. Extend Bus Priority Lane to all roads. Probably No new metro needed!

If you arrive at the Bangalore airport in an early morning flight, please take the BMTC Volvo bus. Cruising on the rain soaked, traffic-free roads is a rarer experience than Jupiter's orbit matching the moon.

There is a Big Scam going on in . Bus tickets price will be like 19,29 etc..and they will never return your money until you will ask for. Even though you will ask they will expect 9 rupees change from you but they won't give you back your change.

Only when residents realise that 's monopoly is the single biggest factor coming in the way of a decent work-day commute for them, and raise the demand for an end to the monopoly as @ , can there be a solution to this problem.

These are the kinds of constraints - some because of being a govt organisation; others because of various mafia controls - that operates under. It'll take quite some doing to change all of that. Simpler to bring about it through well regulated competition.
