Last day of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month! A lot to be proud of (Patsy Mink!), & some to be angry/disappointed about (look up the 1992 LA riots & Latasha Harlins). Let’s keep learning to combat anti-black racism in our own communities.

"The story of Asian Americans is the story of America." Lots of emotions while watching on online: grief, shame, anger, but mostly pride. I highly recommend this show to ALL Americans.

just said a woman saw her grandfather in the ASIAN AMERICANS segment with Ham about the hundreds of refugees he interviewed for the film . The family had never heard their grandfather's story before.

That remittance story. Over and over again. And the convo about transcontinental railroad on seized (stolen) land is to really important. If I was showing this class I’d supplement there to connect and relate histories of settler colonialism/Asian migrant labor.
