👑 ’s apartments at Greenwich were magnificent, Cloth of gold & silver, velvets & silks covered her bed, curtains & chairs. The walls had elaborate panelling & tapestries the ceilings festooned with her & ’s badges & symbols, in bright colours & gold leaf.

I sigh over ’s Nonsuch Palace. I swoon over Whitehall. But the Palace I wish to see above all others is Greenwich, as ’s major life events happened here. The Palace fell into disrepair in the 1600s. In 1696, it was demolished to build a hospital for seamen.

The month after ’s execution was a busy & successful 1 for Jane Seymour: 2/6/1536: She is presented to the Court as Queen 5/6: her brother Edward is created Viscount 7/6: Jane travels by barge from Greenwich to Whitehall in 👑 style, guns shooting in her honour.

We often tend to think of & travelling by horse. Yet they would often travel in luxury & comfort by royal 👑 barge, between Greenwich, Hampton, Windsor & Whitehall palaces & houses of friends lying on cushions, with music playing & merry company.
