1/The Strikes Among our Biddeford compatriots We see via the Biddeford Times that Biddeford is to be menaced by a strike, and if one is to believe the same report, this strike will be more considerable and disastrous than the last.

All, or nearly all, the invoices from Canadiens have been rejected by the city’s finance committee. Even that of the Rvd Sisters of Charity was rejected. We hope that next month, they will be accepted, and the city won’t wait to be sued. 1/3

It was a real pleasure reading book. A century ago, in New England, it was the Canadien, the French, who were the despised other. Too Catholic, suspect as they maintained their loyalty to their French language and culture.

I'm really excited to have a podcast dedicated to legacy of French Canadians in New England, and I am in no way surprised that it's Jesse Martineau bringing it to us! Go Jesse!

"A Distinct Alien Race" is in some 50 libraries, that I know about, and the number is growing quickly per WorldCat. It's in Yale, Princeton, and now University of Oxford, U.K.
