On the anniversary of his death, we honour Salvador , the Chilean President. The legitimate President. He was a fighter for the rights of the poor. He was a principled man. He is an inspiration to us.

46 years ago today Chile was robbed of a popular democratic leader who fought for the people. The US government decided it preferred a murderous military dictatorship. The rest is (tragic) history. Some pics from Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende in Santiago

"The other 9/11". On Sept 11 1973, General Pinochet overthrew Salvador Allende's socialist government in CIA-backed coup & turned Chile into lab of neoliberal policies. 3000 of Allende's supporters were tortured to death while over a 1000 remain missing.

Another Democratic Socialist ousted in a miltary coup organised by the US. Replaced by the murdering despot Pinochet -who Margaret Thatcher considered a good friend. People indoctrinated by right wing propaganda seem unaware that this is still happening across the world.

In this age, retreat by some revolutionaries is important. Every comrade on the ground counts.
