One of the recommendations I was given along with my diagnosis was to ensure I spend sufficient time alone. This helps me to regulate my energy levels, emotions and mood. 1/

Autism is a disability. Disability isn’t inherently tragic. Both are true.

‘Nice’ was a word I wasn’t allowed to use in school writing assignments. It was considered too bland by my teacher. But ‘nice’ is exactly what people seem to want us to be a lot of the time. Nice and bland. Blending in, not causing any problems. 2/

Why do autism organisations who many in the autistic community feel abuse autistic people still seem to get most of the funding?

There’s a particular imperative for girls and women to be nice. It starts with the ‘sugar and spice’ rhyme when we’re young. As we grow older we often get told to “smile!” or “cheer up!” if we look too serious in public places. 1/

I’m not popular. I’ve never BEEN popular... And I’m never going to BE popular. That’s NOT important when it comes to advocacy and awareness. I’m and I welcome including self dx. I’m GENUINE and I’m consistent. And I’m ALWAYS honest.

There's an episode of called "Can you learn to taste better?" and I think it's highly relevant to the & community. In the show, Shannon has big issues with the texture of certain foods, like broccoli or polenta. (1)

If autistic people are judgey of the parents of autistic people, it’s because parents have done so much damage and silenced us to center themselves so much that they have to really show they’re here to learn.

If you despair of ever finding appropriate as an adult do watch this. It shows just how different things can be when the therapist is autistic. So much that’s helpful on late recognition of , anxiety, loneliness and addiction.

I heard recently that “we don’t like to perform for people.” Would anyone be interested in contributing to/attending a virtual ND performance night? Theater, poetry, music, anything! If it works we could do it regularly...

Saying autistic people are “too black & white in thinking” is your way of saying you don’t want to hear anything in absolutes, want to worm through any loophole you can find in what we say and do anything center yourself instead of us. Shut. Up.

If you need to someone, do it. You come 1st. But if the person has , & if you feel able, give another chance? Blocking is exclusion, and we all know how THAT feels. 😥 1/2

How's everyone doing out there? If you're feeling good, maybe share a little for those who make use of it today. I'll start. Here's a silly dance for a Tuesday. (In thanks to you who lifted my mood last week when it all turned dark)

be a really nice idea to spread some creativity or any business they may have so others can see. Like if you have an Etsy store, or just showing the stuff you love to do so others can see on here.
