European and American writers used to characterize sub-Saharan arts as "primitive", but this is a naturalistic and beautiful sculpture from 14th century Nigeria. Not that I'm privileging naturalism but it is just to show how WRONG they were.

Germany to return stone cross placed in Namibia by Portuguese explorers in 1486. Namibia has requested returned of the since 2017. Germany's historical museum said it has agreed to return the cross in a bid to face up to its colonial past.
