I just read a parent saying "I've listened to adults about how ABA feels and so I won't do that with my son." And I started crying in a restaurant.

Public Service Announcement: The hashtag is to be put into tweets ONLY by autistic people. It exists SPECIFICALLY to identify yourself as being autistic so we can find each other without having to wade through tweet after tweet of harm posted by non-autistics.

My controversial opinion of the day is that every should have a designated quiet/safe area as a basic requirement. Because and other neurodivergent queers exist.

Any other folks find it difficult to cope with warm/stuffy environments? I’m currently in work and the aircon isn’t working properly, making the office a bit stuffy and I’m down nearly 75% on my processing and general functioning ability.

Hey , why are you partnering with Autism Speaks when the founder of Pokemon was autistic... and autistic people are almost entirely AGAINST Autism Speaks? Please respond, as we’re pretty concerned about it.

Your tweet was cruel. Nobody who has experienced loss should be told they are playing trumps with their dead child. That was unnecessary. Speaking as an myself, Paula's original tweet didn't offend me as the context was clear.

Jeepers, people, learn to recognise when some other autistic is having a meltdown on Twitter. How's your ability to reason through and resolve things mid-meltdown? Ja, me neither. So give the same consideration to them as you would want for yourself.

I want to recommend blogs/writings by people for my students - send me your fave recommendations! I've got a couple but will have missed lots of excellent stuff. Preferably online-accessible as they won't all be able to take the same book out at once.

If you are the parent of an autistic kid and choose not to listen to voices, you are choosing to ignore your own child’s voice.

Anyone that says we autistics don’t have empathy need to stop. I’ve seen others say it too, but I’ll just speak for myself here: I sometimes feel I have *too much* empathy.

Prisoners in max security jails get better treatment than children in the UK. They're not ill - locks them up as punishment for not being . It's ruining lives as well as being vastly, wastefully expensive.

So, I'll say it again, meltdowns are no fun. Meltdowns are never wanted. A meltdown is an extreme reactions to and extreme stimuli.
