I'm writing about for a national publication. Please DM if you'd like to say something about the conference, especially if your experience (attending or not attending) relates to accessibility/affordability. You can be anonymous if you like.

Total expenses for shared lodging and gas, registration, Lyfts, and modest meals (to moderate a panel on solo parent writers) = $832.27. Also doing my taxes and, though I had a memoir released by a Big 5 publisher in 2018, my gross income was under 11K.

isn’t really over until the last of the chipped nail polish is removed and the last suitcase is unpacked. Proud to say I just removed the nail polish but the suitcase still has a few things in it so IT’S NOT OVER YET. (I’m still sad)

There was one thing that annoyed me about . This was our 1st year w a booth so I couldn't have known that table-less, booth-less "colleagues" would make rounds w their wares trying to leave their merch on our table for passerby. Nah, bruh. I threw all that shit away.

"Don’t let anybody make you feel dumb because you haven’t read something." In an keynote last week, Winner Colson Whitehead threw out advice on reading, writing, and... chicken.

Last night I dreamed that and I were on a panel and they decided instead of a conference room, our panel would be under a waterfall. So we decided to handout ice cream and umbrellas. It’s 2 weeks after & I’m still having anxiety dreams.

Many people asked me if the lecture I read for the panel, "Healing Harm/Harming Heal: The Power and Pain of Writing Through Trauma" was published somewhere. It wasn't. I decided to make it available though!

It's been a couple months since the conference, and now that the dust has settled, I'd like to talk about something accessibility-related that was done well (or not so well; it depended on the presenter) at the conference. Buckle up! It's a little thread!

When I got home at 1 am from my kids had filled my bed with wigs from the dress up bin and that nicely sums up where I was emotionally at that moment

Highlight of my : After the New Poets of Native Nations reading, a man asked, “Can you tell us about Native American Poetry before the white man came?” Or something similar. That question is all I needed to hear to sum up how folks still feel about Native literature.

It’s a cliché to say that writers are lonely, or that writing is a lonely practice, so I will just say: I am lonely. And now, the morning after , I’m flooded by all the connections I experienced this weekend. Here’s to literary camaraderie, wherever we can make it.

I'm over the attitude: "Why don't you be a little more civil?" or "How about ask nicely?" as if we are seven-year-olds asking for ponies. These are my civil rights. I shouldn't have to ask for them

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Fish Fry last night. We had a TIME! All we as Dark Noise want to do is think about how we can make love intentional and the love was on high last night. Thank y’all for making the end of a real whole cherry tree on top of the week.
