Catching up on , and it’s fantastic. I adore the book, I love the Muppets version, but this adaptation is such a rich tapestry, fusing wider Dickensiana (Scrooge is very Gradgrind) with more sinister themes. Brilliantly quiet performance from Guy Pearce

Finally watched A Christmas Carol in one sitting. Perfectly good but ruined by insisting on having real people playing Ghosts. PC Nonsense. Why not cast ghosts like Dickens intended. Why mess with a timeless classic?

I couldn't help but compare that drab, dreary and turgidly over-written new adaptation of on the BBC over Xmas with last night's slick, amusing and imaginative take on Bram Stoker's . Well done, Moffat and An instant classic ✍️🍾

Reasons to remember that the BBC is brilliant. on BBC2 which was incredible, and on BBC 4, a fraction of the budget yet fabulous . Brave, wonderful, creative interpretations. Total value for licence fee money. 👏👏
