114) Always Be My Maybe (3/5) Rom-com has enough good comedic scenes to be watchable, thanks mainly to the dry delivery of Randall Park. The Keanu bits are entertaining but have been blown out of proportion during the current overblown Keanu love fest.

100) NOT WANTED. Ida Lupino co-wrote & co-produced this movie and when the original director suddenly fell ill she took over the reigns and directed the film herself! It's an incredibly sympathetic (for the 1940s) look at a woman dealing w/ an unplanned pregnancy.

Day 10 Someone drinks Iced Tea in Movie 159) Witness - Amish Han Solo vs Bad Cop Murtaugh. I guess when you go Amish it’s hard to go back. Must be something in the iced tea. 1985 3/5

Day 13 Someone is Sewing in Movie 162) Batman Returns - Pfeiffer was a really good Catwoman and Devito was just creepy. Never realized all the sexual advance he does the whole movie. 1992 3/5

Day 7 Main Character has Running Scene 156) Chariots of Fire - Definite Oscar bait but really how the hell did this win best picture? It was okay and interesting to see from their Cambridge ways. 1981 3/5

105) THE BIGAMIST. So far the films Ida Lupino directed seem to have some common themes: Unplanned pregnancy, humanizing people who make choices that violate societal norms, & encouraging everybody (especially the government) to mind their own business.

113) The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (1/5) The product of a self-indulgent quest to make a film that didn’t want to get made. You can’t watch any part of this without thinking about director Gilliam’s quest and it’s a bit too meta to enjoy.

101) THE SOUVENIR. Joanna Hogg delivers an incredibly personal film where she takes the audience through a tour of her memories in an ostensibly fictional film.

103) THE SPY BEHIND HOME PLATE. I thought THE CATCHER WAS A SPY was much better & I didn't really like that film. But Moe Berg is still fascinating & this is informative.

107) ECHO IN THE CANYON. I totally recommend this but I really wish that it was 2 separate films: An essential documentary about the music scene in Laurel Canyon from 1965 to 1967ish & a pleasant (but skippable) concert film featuring Jakob Dylan & friends.

108) BAD BLACK. Nabwana I.G.G. follows up WHO KILLED CAPTAIN ALEX?, "Uganda's first action-packed movie", with this film about a woman who grew up on the streets & became a master criminal. The completely DIY special FX are a hoot.

104) 5B. In 1983 San Francisco General Hospital opened the first ward (5B) dedicated solely to treating patients w/ AIDS. This documentary tells the story of the nurses who volunteered to treat these patients before they even knew how the disease was spread. Powerful.
