Das fasst ungefähr zusammen was ich an den ganzen Klimanotstand-Beschlüssen schwierig finde. wie wollt ihr verhindern dass solche beschlüsse reine Lippenbekenntnisse ohne Folgen sind?

One second they declare a and the next second they say yes to expand a pipeline. This is shameful. But of course this is not only in Canada, we can unfortunately see the same pattern everywhere...

Am I translating this right as "CSIDH is dead"? and does this have implications for other isogeny-based systems?

It's a big day today: I had a scientific manuscript rejected by a robot. Thread. The bot detected ❝a high level of textual overlap with previous literature❞. In other words, plagiarism. 1/6

Some part of me is very curious if a) someone will run the SACK attack on the whole IPv4 space once exploits are available and b) how that'll look like.

I went to and of 's Code Conference to talk about how woefully inadequate Silicon Valley's response to the climate crisis has been, and why.

This sounds reasonable, but as we know the relevant point is the weakest point. To be really effective we'd need to define some minimum standards for multipath validation for all CAs.

No security update for the SACK bug yet? (Though it sounds much less severe than the linux one, only slowdown, no crash.)

A bunch of remotely triggerable Linux TCP issues. At least crashing a system remotely should be trivial, maybe more.

actually I had the experience with postnord before, and the handling was different: They gave me the bill before they delivered, so I had the option to refuse accepting the package (which I did, because it was some useless swag).

what may play into this is that germany has huge amounts of low quality coal (lighnite, in germany called "brown coal") that has even higher emissions than "normal" coal. I think this largely doesn't exist in the UK.

I'd be very surprised if there's a legal justification that I have to pay for a service that someone else ordered for me without my knowledge.

do you have any reference? Are the handling fees really legitimate if a) I wasn't the person asking Fedex to handle this (I had overseas packages before where I went to the customs myself and payed) and b) nobody has told me when I ordered this?

I'm not sure it's worth going into a legal fight with them, but I'm seriously annoyed. Just want to warn everyone, don't do business with these people if you can avoid it.

tries to be friendly in emails, but isn't doing anything to resolve the situation. Fedex ignores my mails and sends me warning letters.

Part 4: Of course I also got FedEx invoices for the two extra packages. So I'm left with three invoices, now I have illegitimate Fedex invoices that are in sum more than the overall price of what I originally wanted to order.
