. I long for the days (enough of us are so I think that day is near) when people ask, what jobs are available to someone with , the only response is, what do they want to do with their life?

I get these emails just as regularly and feel similarly. The worst is getting emails from parents for legal advice as well by virtue of being an autistic attorney. I’m only licensed in Florida, and do not practice in disability nor special education law 😳

The everyday autism experts are people. We are autistic men, autistic women, autistic children, autistic people of color, autistic and LGBTQ+, and/or otherwise disabled and from all over the world. Listen to our voices. Amplify our voices.

Jon Snow sits down at a booth in a NJ diner. Cues up Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” Daenerys walks in, sits down. “What looks good tonight?” she asks. Arya’s coming separately-parking problems...Sansa sits. They eat onion rings. FADE TO BLACK.

I use autistic when I refer to myself in writing mostly but I do realize in a lot of neurotypical spaces I will use “on the spectrum” and its variants, especially if speaking. I’m fine with whatever language you use, but it’s very rare someone corrects me

Not to me personally but when others have written about me they’re like “hey journalists, don’t use autistic” meanwhile I’m like “hey journalists thank you for using and respecting my preference.” I feel like I’ve lucked out in having no personal experience with language policing
