This is the first time Trump has said anything in a public setting about the Rohingya crisis.

Is "Send Her Back" still about political and economic ideology? Are we still doing that nonsense today or have we accepted it's actually because she's a black Muslim woman who came here as a refugee and it's straight up everything to do with her ethnicity?

The below is from Lindsey Graham, in 2019. Also Lindsey Graham, from a piece in 2017: "Recalling [Lindsey] Graham’s earlier view of Trump—“racist,” “jackass,” “bigot,” “con man”..."

Here's a crazy thought - how about the is held in... Africa? One of those countries that offer visas on arrival for all Africans?

This is vile. And yet, it doesn't disqualify him in the eyes of a not so small number of American voters. I analyse sectarian discourse in the Arab world - this kind of discourse is all too familiar.

I asked Trump if he would be okay with someone telling the First Lady to go back to her country. He did not answer.

Thank you, Piers, for recognising that this is clear & overt racism by Donald Trump. Many of us felt his Obama "birther" fixation crossed the line. It is good if those who gave him the benefit of the doubt do now recognise that is no longer tenable as he crosses this line.

If wants to prorogue or suspend parliament to force through no-deal, only way he can now do so - to get round NI bill amendment - is to somehow restore devolved government by mid October. Fascinating to see if that now becomes top priority for him and the DUP.

You can hear the fascists (and the MEPs) screaming and shouting as I state a clear fact: Matteo Salvini is a coward! A coward who looks at a drowning child in the Mediterranean gasping for breath and turns his back.

He went silent for more than 13 seconds to let the chants proceed, then kept attacking Omar without rejecting the chants in any way.

There is a talking point about how Trump's racist comments about Omar are bad because they bring America's name into disrepute. I'm not sure how the health of America's reputation is material... Moreover, it underestimates how mainstream his abysmal comments really are.

"Send her back" is a defining moment for American democracy, and what kind of country we are going to be. The time to decide is now.

Talking point: Racism and hate and death threats are justified against Ilhan Omar and AOC and Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib because they are critical of America and Israel and because of socialism or something. But it's their fault, not the fault of Trump and his racism.
