DOJ complaint against Google gets the history of mobile app stores wrong or remembers it incompletely. Most or all of the carriers at one time had app stores -- which failed, because they were garbage.

The complaint really doesn’t talk about SEO per se. it talks mostly about Google locking up distribution and blocking rival search engines and then leveraging its scale to make money. I suppose the SEO angle is google’s increasing monetization of page 1 forcing people to buy ads
