In hindsight it’s kind of amazing that it has taken until now for chip designers to optimize CPUs in ways specific to making JavaScript faster. JavaScript is not going anywhere, and it is a huge bottleneck for a lot of software a lot of people run all day.

iOS 13 had a (deservedly) terrible reputation as well. iOS 13: Don’t upgrade, it’s buggy. iOS 14: Upgrade, it’s good and widgets are cool.

I’m sure it loads faster than the Intel compiled version, but in actual use they’re indistinguishable.

I have one! It’s good. I would and will just charge my watch separately. Makes me wonder how much of the problems with the original AirPower came down to trying to make it work with Apple Watch too.

Better how? It’s the same app just recompiled to run natively.

No, I haven’t! How do you get that layout? When I choose a 2x1 widget I just get an hourly forecast:

The worst part is, I’d hire anyone in this thread in a second, including you, knowing I’d regret it.

I started at Apple on my 35th birthday. Every bit of software I’m proud of came after that. Everything before that was preparation. I was 39 when I started working on the original iPhone, and many of my colleagues were around the same age. Just keep going.

I hadn’t tried until just now, but Alfred correctly indexes iOS apps and Apple Silicon-only Mac apps.
