The last Labour Gov't achieved great things. But it got things wrong too. On Justice, that included massively increasing the prison population. The next Labour Gov't will act to end ineffective short sentences & promote alternatives that actually work.

Today's 'Fiscal risks report' is in headlines for its Brexit 'stress test'. But it also happens to include their first attempt at climate analysis. Although a welcome move, the bigger picture is the OBR has got things the wrong way around 1/11

The ease with which what was once called the ‘centre-left’ has undermined itself - using just cynical opportunism and moralising hypocrisy - is the best evidence yet that they have no idea what the fuck is going on.

Each of these allegations have been thrown at Jeremy Corbyn as well by MPs and journalists who would have demanded Ilhan Omar was expelled from Labour had she been elected on this side of the Atlantic.

Absolutely unbelievable that EU finance ministers are considering Jeroen Dijsselbloem for Lagarde’s old job at the IMF. He shares responsibility for some of the biggest macro policy errors of our time. -

I am shocked *shocked* that there are people who joined the People's Vote campaign out of a desperation for relevance as centrism collapsed, rather than an ideological commitment to the EU

This line from Hardman’s article just about says it all: “Labour plotters are terrified that if they fail to act before an election they might end up with something even worse than a Boris Johnson victory: Corbyn himself becoming prime minister.” The plotters would rather a Tory.

It's annoying that I'm not going to be able to enjoy being right over the next couple of years because of the utterly abhorrent things that will result from the failure of remain and reform

Really just wondering: – UK Labour has *10* members of European Parliament. – Ursula von der Leyen was approved by a margin of just *9* votes. Why didn't the party kick up a fuss, demand a democratic process, and deliver on its promise to 'Remain, Reform, REBEL'?

This from is the best review of the K-Punk book so far. She reclaims Mark Fisher for the Weird Left and zeros in on why his writing is proved so central to the new left generation.
