I do. They do seem to help prevent headaches when I’m in front of my computer all day.

Absolutely right. To be content as a writer (content: not crushed by crippling insecurity), I’m learning that obedience > aspirations. It’s hard. The affirmation monster is always after me.

I took a writing break to enjoy a cup of coffee and a bit of reading on the back porch. Didn’t expect to cry while reading this beautiful piece by .

Before the first threads of the first curtain were woven together, God had planned to send Jesus. Before there was even a need for the curtain, God had planned to tear it down the middle. (from the archives )

Really enjoyed today's edition of The Habit. I just used a big section from a slush file (painful to cut from my manuscript) for an upcoming article. The river vs. reservoir is a good reminder that there's more where that came from.

I loved this piece by my friend for ! Friends who will be honest with you about your sin and point you to Christ are true gifts from the Lord.

Just spent an hour on the phone w/my little sister who said to me 4 years ago in an existential crisis, “Do what you would do even if you never get paid for it.” My 1st book comes out in August & the 2nd one comes out next year. I can’t help but blame her for this a little bit.

I will hold on more tightly to Jesus throughout the week when I’m certain that on Sunday, I’ll be fed all over again and it will be life and rest for my soul. On Sundays, we eat.

Every April I vow to do a better job of tracking my receipts/expenses throughout the year. It's a fun game I pretend to play because I will undoubtedly be sitting here next April trying to make sense of a year's worth of self-employed financials.

The goal of Bible reading is never mere knowledge of historical truths. The Pharisees, Judas, and the devil all could recite facts. The goal of Bible reading is communion with God through Jesus Christ, his Son.

Listening to this morning (their recent Spring Ask Us Anything episode) and learned that you can set time limits on specific apps on your iPhone. What?! How did I not know about this? I just gave myself a good dose of self-control.
