I think #typescript already has this. If you like #javascript you're going to fall in love with typescript

The real issue with @Apple and the #ipad is that they're so hostile to progressive webapps and apps that use aren't locked down using their proprietary APIs. This prevents apps like Polar from being shipped to the Apple store. @techmeme

This is a horrible argument. By definition if it did have enough/infinite data and power it WOULD be able to predict the next word in a probability distribution with high accuracy.

We should have a feature in Polar soon to do something similar. Fetch a paper via doi using the unpaywall api and the internet archive fatcat api. Will fetch the pdf and store all metadata too. The backend is written for the api so I just need to do the ui now.

I guess you're using your highlights more as an outline? Some Polar users have asked to convert these into an outline mode.

Not yet. Your annotations would break. You could rotate with an external app, print, then import back into Polar

Totally agree but when you start quantifying you can at least improve. For example simple things like polars pages read per day can help. If you're using a spaced repetition system you can also quantify card review rate, intervals, and gamify the whole thing.

Oddly enough I read a lot of Wikipedia too. It really is exceptional. Polars incremental read g was influenced by this because this way if I go back to something I read before I have all my notes from the past.

No. I would backup your .polar directory from time to time anyway but it installs the app into a different dir

@Firebase We would really appreciate it if you prioritize Node 10 as production in cloud functions. Being stuck on Node 8 is really holding us back. I bet @awscloud could do it :) ... #nopressure

Startups are less evil because they have less money and externalities can KILL a startup. Companies like Exxon can dump oil in Alaska because they are too big to fail. Facebook is now TBTF so they can destroy democracies and no one can do anything about it. :-/
