...I think I lost most of the code to make this earlier this year. I just need to save it in different places than the single computer I use at the time.

Great talk by my PhD student Nicholas Sharp on "Variational Surface Cutting"—basically, how do you cut up a shape so that it's easy to manufacture from flat pieces? Lots of fun with volleyballs, bandages, and space-filling curves. Enjoy!

ah. The ucp is now upset that people covered a speech they gave but not the way they wanted it. Also papers covered it a week later, and still not the way they wanted it. I’m sure the rural papers covered it for their legions of farmers who are doing what they are told, tho...

Reading this article again I just want to make this writer drink well water from a fracking state... straight, no filter.

The tone of this piece is so pro-oil it is distressing. Yes oil is a driver of the economy, but it isn’t the only one. If the saudis increased production, what would happen if no one bought their oil. Canada is right to question Saudi human rights. Other countries should follow.

The demand to prevent fracking to prevent damaging the health of water supplies is not an “extremist view”. That is plain common sense, and forward thinking about the future generations. When safe water becomes a precious commodity who will be wiser?

What a horrible idea. In Victoria, when they started to charge for construction waste taken to the landfill, people dumped it elsewhere. So what is stopping me from filling my neighbours bin? Nothing. This is why it is a terrible idea.
