‘It’s the world we live in’ is NO excuse for poor access and the ill-treatment of disabled people. - there’s no ramp, ‘it’s the world we live in’ - accessible toilet is broken, ‘it’s the world we live in’ The world we live in should be accessible for all.

The equality act 2010 has been around for almost 10 years so why are the staff at so untrained, challenged my guide dog and spoke to the person I'm with rather than me...am I invisible? No. I'm blind I'm still a person. 😭🤦🏼‍♀️

Yesterday Other Half was guiding me as we walked home after work. A child full of excited joy shouted “what’s that!” & pointed at my white cane. Instantly the parent shushed them & said “we don’t talk about that” It broke my heart. Don’t do this. My blindness is not a taboo.

I. Hate. It. When. Sighted. People. Say. They’re. Blind. When. They. Overlook. Or. Don’t. Notice. Something. Please. Don’t. Do. That. There’s. A. Difference. Between. Being. Blind. And. Not. Noticing. Something. Do. Better!

Dear delivery people, Some of us are disabled and take a little longer to get to the door. You’re not playing Knock and Run so please give me more than 0.4 seconds before heading off. Yours sincerely, Disabled people

This evening a member of TFL staff skilfully guided me around a crowded station, preventing collisions & getting me safely to the platform. They concluded “urgh it’s annoying! They either walk into you or me” And this is how you improve disability customer service. Walk with us

This morning the member of staff assisting me on the tube had to ask for a seat 3 times. “Good morning, can anyone offer a seat please? A seat for this lady please! ANYONE, especially in the priority seats please offer a seat!” Eventually someone moved. 👩🏼‍🦯🚇

Neurotypicals: omg social scripts are bad and "robotic" and make you sound like [ableist slur] Also neurotypicals: *get upset if they say "how are you" and people respond by saying how they are, instead of saying "I'm fine, how are you?" 🤔 WHAT DO YOU THINK A SCRIPT IS

Happy to all of my wonderful disabled friends. I talk about disability a lot, maybe a little too much. But the truth is that embracing my disability has changed my life. I used to resent myself for being disabled. Now I have so much love for my milky eyes.

This evening someone overtook me on the pavement. They barged in front of me, caught my cane with their foot & kicked it up in the air with such force that the elastic joints disconnected. They didn’t even stop. A passerby gasped “oh my god!” 👩🏼‍🦯

It's . So here's some stuff you should know: Parking on pavements & kerb drops is . 'Helping' without asking or listening to me is ableist. Speaking to my companions & ignoring me is ableist. Inaccessibility, even when 'listed', is ableist.

i’m so, so tired of the argument that because a doctor went to medical school that it makes them an expert. you know what makes you an expert on something? living with it. no one understands something quite like someone who lives with it day in and day out.
