No politician can promise a plan to make buying a house more affordable in Toronto, Vancouver or Victoria. Can’t be done. Maybe something on renting but even then...

How a about a simple ocp that weaves together current community plans, the transportation plan, zoning etc and then highlights (not conclude) where the opportunities for density might be and maps out (including budgets and staffing) 20 years of community/ neighbourhood planning.

Impossible that it will be completed with zoning embedded. And yes. It will become a big election issue because they’ll have spent $20million on an unfinished document. When instead they could have done three solid/complete neighbourhood plans for less $ in a shorter time.

Data nerd alert! 👇 I’m particularly pleased to see non-market housing lists included, this stemming from my motion to Council two years ago.

As planned by Vision. So status quo. That’s my point.

Campaigns matter. Party leadership matters. No party stood out nor any party leader in 2018. If NPA, One City, Greens, Cope or even Vision get their act together and have a leader that inspires in 2022, they will win a majority.

The only person who campaigned on being proud of Vision’s record was the new NDP mayor. Greens campaigned on environment. Cope on more social housing. One City on more housing. And NPA on better money mgmt and affordability. Which one of those platforms has seen progress?

No👇. I would argue this mixed party Council is trapped in status quo governance b/c no one party dominates; thus, Vision policies will continue until the 2022 election when we’ll see real change at city hall b/c we will truly be fed up.

The truth is out there: 36 starts on a different note than usual (literally - you'll see) but the discussion is on point, as always. From taxis to to future deficits, and cover a lot of ground.
